I Bid Adieu to 1122 NW Marshall

It is May 31, 2009, and it is our last day here at 1122 NW Marshall. I look around and am not sure what I am feeling. We worked so hard to find the most unique space for Parallel and I feel we did indeed accomplish that. As sad as I feel to leave here, I am excited and enthusiastic for what lies ahead. Our new location on 1oth and Johnson at Jamison Square will be very promising. The tranquility of 12th and Marshall will now be traded for the sound of screaming kids at the fountain and the streetcar going by. I am excited for this trade off.

The addition of Parallel to the existing retail store fronts, will only strengthen Jamison Square as a retail destination. My new neighbors have already expressed their support and lending hand and I am humbled by their kindness. To my original supporters on the Marshall block, I will miss you immensely. Please know that I am not too far away:).

Come visit us at our new location: 1022A NW Johnson St, we should be open by the afternoon of first Thursday, June 4th if all goes as planned.

Thankful for Leggings

I am truly thankful for leggings! The mornings are still a little nippy and it is a great way to wear those cute dresses hiding in your closet from last summer. Parallel carries black Bobi leggings in ankle length and capri length. $39/$36

For Fall, we will carry denim colored leggings. I can't wait:).

Politics meets Fashion

My two favorite females in the political limelight have got mad style. Ex-uber model, Carla Bruni, and First Lady, Michelle Obama are oozing with grace, elegance, and sophistication. I love how both of them are not afraid to show their arms, and wear things other than turtlenecks. They are constantly seen on the fashion posts of the NY Times. Here is an article of their initial meeting and most importantly, what they wore:

If the fashion and retail industries weren’t in such a funk, and maybe if the general media knew more about fashion so that it didn’t seem to be panting before every cardigan, there might be less fuss about Michelle Obama’s European wardrobe, which is pretty consistent with what the First Lady has been wearing — with a few more bells and whistles.

In pure fashion terms, Mrs. Obama is a standout in part because she has a distinct line to her clothes, as well as her signature vibrant colors. Contrast her look in the teal blue Jason Wu dress in London with the uniformly straight and dour line of the other leaders’ wives, and of course she’s different, more expressive. Today, in France, to greet President Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, she wore a custom-made Thakoon floral silk jacquard coat and a short-sleeve fuchsia dress. At one point at the Palais Rohan in Strasbourg, President Sarkozy seemed to make a comment to President Obama about their wives, which caused Mrs. Obama to frown or blush. Not clear, of course, what was said. The two first ladies looked remarkably similar, both wearing coats with a soft tie at the neck. A coat trend? Probably so. Mrs. Bruni-Sarkozy’s gray lambskin coat was a Dior, as were her handbag and flats. I think the ultrafitted Thakoon dress is Mrs. Obama’s best look so far, and I like the change of having short sleeves.

**NEW LOCATION**

Yes, you read it right. After less than one year, Parallel has decided to move its doors this June. We will be moving to 1022 NW Johnson, right on Jamison Square next to Sinju Restaurant. We hope these three blocks will not put you out too much. We are sure you will love the new space as much as we do.

We will keep you posted on the details...

Cheers,

Tez & Mannix
