One Shirt Four Looks: Rag & Bone Excel Shirt

The Excel Shirt from Rag & Bone is one of our favorite shirt this season. This stunning blouse is made from gorgeous silk chiffon with a black inverted pleat and signature milk can buttons. The perfect shirt to wear all year along

We have created four looks using the Excel Shirt for you, whether it's for a day at the office, day to evening, night on town, or brunch on the weekend, Parallel has you covered.

The Office Look

We wanted to keep the look simple and fresh but still modern so we paired the blouse with a Tuxedo Pant by Nili Lotan to give the shirt a relaxed men's wear inspired look. We kept the jewelry simple with the Swarovski Studs and Menara Bracelet by Grayling. Topped the outfit with these fantastic (so comfortable) Jude Sandal by Rag & Bone and Bodega Tote by Loeffler Randall.

Day to Night/Date Night Look
Take this shirt from day to evening by glitzing it up with a few accessories. Helix Earrings and Crystalline Bracelet by Grayling are prefect pieces to glitz up this shirt. The Regina Pencil Skirt by Rag & Bone is a great transition piece to take this shirt from day to evening by offering a polish yet  still alluring look. A great flat sandal will keep this look from being overtly sexy and that's why we chose Lita Sandal from Loeffler Randall. Lastly we added a fun clutch, the Sequin Clutch by Hoss Intropia.

Night Out on the Town Look

Whether you are attending a gallery opening, cocktail party, or drinks with friends this look is fun and glamorous! We wanted to pair it with a standout necklace to make statement and the Ivy Chocolate Necklace by Grayling is perfect for that, we also added the Grayling's Swarovski Brass Studs. A full skirt is a fun way to play up this look, the Lima Skirt from Rag & Bone is perfect for that. The Allegra Sandal by Loeffler Sandal adds a touch of glamour to the outfit. We had to pair the Grommet Clutch by Hoss Intropia to complete this look.

The Brunch Look

In order to relaxed and dress down the shirt we paired it with the Jean Jacket and Dre Jean by Rag & Bone, both pieces are just the right "casualness" for this look. We added a pop color with the Camo Scarf by Rag & Bone such a fun and unique print! Kept the jewelry simple with a pair of Gold Stick Earrings by Sarah Dunn. Finished off this look with a Small Pouch Clutch from Loeffler Randall and Sayre II Espadrille from Rag & Bone.

That Time of Year: to Clean & Organize

It's almost summer so time to make room for summer clothes. Here are few tips on how to organize and make room for new clothes...you know new stuff from Parallel, maybe?!

Tip 1) Get Rid of Clothes You Don't Wear Anymore:
Organizing your closet is the perfect time to get rid of clothes that you haven't worn in a few years or no longer fit you. Here are few options we recommend when getting rid of your clothes.
  • Consignment Stores: Prefer recognizable brands, what shape the garment is in, is it contemporary, etc. They usually take a percentage of the sale and pay you once the item sells.
  • Give Away/Donate: Why not see if a friend would take any of your old clothes that you don't wear or want anymore. Donating this always a good option since they are plenty of charities that would like your old clothes.
  • Throw Away: Rips, shredding, stains, damaged hardware or zippers, etc just thrown away.

Tip 2) Start Organizing:
Once you have decided what you are going to keep it's time to start organizing.
  • Hanging vs. Folding: Some stylist professionals say if you have room to hang all your clothes is best option because it allows you to see everything and you will wear it more if you can see it. Folding is more of weight and maintaining shape and form issue.
    • Tops/Sweaters should be folded if they are heavy so they don't lose shape on the hanger. When hanging or folding best to color code
    • Jeans can be hung or folded, we think it's best to organize them by color rather than fit.
    • Pants/Skirts hang them using clips and fold the sides so the outside isn't marked by the clips.
    • Dresses can be hung from strapless to long sleeves or by length, day to night, or color. Whichever you prefer and easiest to see.
    • Shoes are best organized by color and style. Put the right shoe toe front and left shoe heel front to see both sides of the shoe.
    • Lingerie should be organize by color and type. "Make sure to rotate your bras and underwear so you're wearing the same few all of the time (Andrea Rapke, founder of The Organized Move)."

Tip 3): Call The In Pros:
If all this is too much or not your thing. Professionals can come in and help you go through your closet, help you decided what to keep and what to throw away, and how to best organize for you. If you live in the Pacific Northwest area we recommend Scarlet Chamberlin

Tip 4) Time To Update And Shop:
Once you are finished with organizing it's time to shop and get yourself ready for a new  wardrobe. What a better place to start than here at ParallelPortland.com.
